State Sen. Shannon Augare arrested on 2nd DUI

Outgoing State Sen. Shannon Augare, D-Browning, was reportedly cited for his second DUI charge.

The Tribune’s David Murray has the story of embattled State Sen. Shannon Augare facing his second DUI charge:

Montana State Sen. Shannon Augare was arrested by Blackfeet Tribal Police following a traffic stop either late Thursday night or early Friday morning. The former Blackfeet Tribal Councilman and outgoing Senate District 8 representative was initially charged with misdemeanor DUI, eluding a police officer and speeding, Augare told the Tribune.

Augare has had more than his fair share of headlines this year.

In May A Blackfeet tribal judge issued an arrest warrant for Augare after Augare failed to pay his fine for a conviction on obstruction and drunken-driving charges for fleeing a traffic stop in 2013.

Augare is claiming political harassment.
